Abstract
ABSTRACT Agus Supriyanto, 2025, Improving Numeracy Literacy Skills and Learning Outcomes Through Drumband Art in Kindergarten LKMD Kejuron. Thesis Madiun Social Science Education Studies Program, Master's Program, Graduate University PGRI Madiun Supervisor (1) Prof. Dr. H. Parfi, M.Pd, (II) Dr. Sudarniani, M.Pd. Keywords: Numeracy Literacy Skills, Learning Outcomes, Drumband Art Proficiency in numerical literacy is a foundational skill that is critical to supporting student learning success as well as its application in everyday life. However, in practice the presence of low numerical literacy skills among students is still evident as a result of less contextualized learning as well as minimal utilization of art-based media and motor activities. This study aims to develop numeracy literacy skills by utilizing the art of drumband as an integrative, contextual, and enjoyable learning tool. The methodology used was classroom action research (CAR) implemented in two cycles, with the subjects of the study being primary education level students. Each cycle consists of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection was done through observation, numerical literacy skills test, and documentation. Data were analyzed descriptively with both quantitative and qualitative approaches to assess students’ improvement in numerical literacy skills. The results of the study showed that the application of drumband art can significantly improve students’ numerical literacy skills. This conclusion is based on numerical data showing that numerical literacy skills improved from 68% in cycle I to 88% in cycle II, as well as learning outcomes that improved from 84% in cycle I to 88% in cycle II. Improvements were seen in the ability to understand rhythmic patterns, count beats, recognize number concepts, measure time, as well as simple problem solving integrated in drumband activities. In addition, learning through the art of drumband can also improve learning motivation, concentration, collaboration, and discipline among the students. Thus, drumband art proved effective as an alternative strategy in learning to improve numeracy literacy skills.
