Abstract
Fitriyah, Imama’ul 2025. Improving Poetry Writing Skills Through Imagination Techniques in Grade VI Students of Clebung II Elementary School, Bubulan District, Bojonegoro Regency. Thesis. Indonesian Master of Language and Literature Education Study Program, Post Graduate Program Universitas PGRI Madiun. Pembimbing (I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono, M.Pd.; (II) Dr. Sigit Ricahyono, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: imagination technique, poetry writing, classroom action research, elementary school students. This study aimed to improve students’ poetry writing skills through the application of imagination techniques in sixth-grade students of SD Negeri Clebung II, Bubulan District, Bojonegoro Regency. This research was motivated by the low ability of students to write poetry, characterized by difficulties in generating ideas, weak imagery, limited diction, and low learning outcomes. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 13 sixth-grade students of SD Negeri Clebung II. Data were collected through observation, poetry writing tests, and documentation. The research instruments included observation sheets for teacher and student activities and a poetry writing assessment rubric covering theme, imagery, diction, figurative language, and coherence of lines. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results indicated that the application of imagination techniques effectively improved both the learning process and students’ poetry writing outcomes. In the pre-cycle stage, the average score was 65.2 with a learning mastery of 30.77%. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 71.5 with 61.54% mastery. In Cycle II, the average score further increased to 80.8, and all students (100%) achieved mastery learning. In addition, students’ participation and enthusiasm in poetry writing activities improved significantly.
