Abstract

ABSTRACT Prasetyaning Tyas, 2026 Implementation of Word Cards in Early Reading Learning in Indonesian in Grade 1 of SD Negeri 2 Pucanganak, Tugu District, Trenggalek Regency. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA). Supervisor 1: Prof. Dr. H. Supri Wahyudi Utomo, M.Pd., Supervisor 2: Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Word Cards, Early Reading, Indonesian, Elementary School. This study aims to: 1) Describe the implementation of word cards in early reading learning in Grade 1 of SD Negeri 2 Pucanganak, Tugu District, Trenggalek Regency; 2) Analyze the obstacles to implementing word cards in early reading learning in Grade 1 of SD Negeri 2 Pucanganak, Tugu District, Trenggalek Regency. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive study design. The research subjects included first-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Pucanganak, Tugu District, Trenggalek Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and assessment of student learning outcomes. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that: 1). The application of word card media in early reading showed that teachers were able to integrate this media systematically and creatively to introduce letters, syllables, and simple words to students, 2). Several obstacles in the use of word card media include differences in students' initial abilities, limited number of word cards, decreased motivation, motor coordination, classroom management, pronunciation difficulties, limited facilities and students' self-confidence.
