Keywords: Project Based Learning, learning effectiveness, poetry writing, elementary school Poetry writing instruction in elementary schools requires an effective approach to develop students’ language skills, creativity, and imagination. However, in practice, poetry writing instruction still faces various challenges, such as students’ difficulties in expressing ideas, low learning motivation, and the predominance of conventional teaching methods. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in teaching poetry writing to fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Sumengko Nganjuk. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental Design with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects were fifth-grade students who received treatment through the implementation of the PjBL model in poetry writing instruction. Data were collected through tests and analyzed using statistical techniques. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ poetry writing skills, with the average score increasing from 60.72 in the pretest to 83.54 in the posttest. In addition, students gave positive responses to the learning process, perceiving it as enjoyable, expressive, and confidence-enhancing. These findings provide empirical evidence that the PjBL model is effective in improving poetry writing skills in elementary school students and is suitable for application in literary learning.
