Abstract

ABSTRACT Anik Supartini. 2025. The Role of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in Supporting Functional Literacy: A Case Study of Students’ Speaking and Writing Skills at Phase C of SD Negeri 3 Wilangan, Wilangan District, Nganjuk Regency. Thesis. Madiun: Program Studi Magister, Pendidikan Bahasa Dan Sastra Indonesia, Sekolah Pascasarjana, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Ekohari Cahyono, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Muhammad Binur Huda, M.Pd. Keywords: Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), Functional Literacy, Functional Speaking Skills, Functional Writing Skills, Qualitative Case Study. This study aims to analyze the implementation process and the role of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) as a contextual learning medium in supporting the development of two crucial aspects of functional literacy among students of SD Negeri 3 Wilangan, namely functional speaking skills and functional writing skills. The research background is grounded in the urgency of functional literacy within the Merdeka Curriculum and the existing empirical gaps related to students’ speaking anxiety and difficulties in producing structured non-fiction writing at the elementary school level. This research employed a qualitative approach using a single case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with facilitator teachers and selected core students, and document analysis of P5 artifacts. Data sources were selected using purposive sampling, and data credibility was ensured through source and method triangulation. Data analysis was conducted interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, utilizing taxonomic and thematic analysis to identify patterns and effective P5 mechanisms. The findings indicate that P5 plays a significant role through three main mechanisms: (1) P5 functions as an Authentic Mandatory Communication Laboratory that integrates speaking and writing demands at every stage of the project; (2) P5 serves as a catalyst for overcoming speaking anxiety by providing progressive exposure within a collaborative learning environment (Gotong Royong), encouraging students to speak about their own work; and (3) P5 acts as a trigger for structured non-fiction writing due to the documentation and Project Report requirements during the reflection stage, which explicitly require students to transform field data (facts) into logical and coherent narratives. The study concludes that P5 constitutes an effective methodological framework for bridging character development and students’ applied literacy competencies at the elementary school level. The theoretical implication of this study lies in enriching P5 discourse from the perspectives of task-based writing and strategies for addressing speaking anxiety.
