Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to construct sentences with the Subject-Verb-Object (SVO/SPO) pattern through the use of picture media for 2nd-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Sambiroto. The primary issue addressed in this research is the students' low skill level in constructing correct sentence structures. This study is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 2nd-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Sambiroto. Data collection techniques included observation, learning achievement tests, and documentation. The results showed that the use of picture media significantly improved the students' ability to construct SVO sentences. This is evidenced by the increase in students' learning mastery from pre-cycle to cycle I, reaching the success indicator in cycle II. The conclusion of this study is that the application of picture media is effective in improving effective sentence writing skills among elementary school students.
