Improving Skills in Identifying Intrinsic Elements of Short Stories Using the "Think Pair Share" Model for Grade IX Students in Semester 1, Academic Year 2024/2025 at SMPN 4 Dongko Satu Atap, Trenggalek Regency. Thesis. Madiun: Master of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Postgraduate Faculty, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Dr. Dwi Rohman Soleh, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Agung Nasrullah Saputra, M.Pd. Keywords: Intrinsic Elements, Identification Skills, Short Stories, Think Pair Share. This study aims to improve skills in identifying intrinsic elements of short stories through the application of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model for grade IX students in semester 1 of SMPN 4 Dongko Satu Atap, Trenggalek Regency, Academic Year 2024/2025. The problem addressed in this study is students' low ability to understand and identify intrinsic elements of short stories, such as theme, characters and characterization, plot, setting, point of view, and moral. This research is a classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 32 ninth-grade students. Data collection instruments included tests, observations, and documentation, using a qualitative approach within the classroom action research (CAR) model. The results indicate that the Think Pair Share model can improve students' skills in identifying intrinsic elements of short stories. In the first cycle, students' average scores increased compared to the initial results, and in the second cycle, there was a more significant improvement, both in terms of results and student learning engagement. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Think Pair Share model is effective in teaching short stories to improve students' skills in identifying intrinsic elements.
