Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain (1) the use of modeling methods can improve the learning to read poetry of class IV students at SDN Candimulyo 03, Dolopo District, Madiun Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of class IV students at SDN Candimulyo 03, Dolopo District, Madiun Regency, in learning to read poetry. using the modeling method. This research is classroom action research using two cycles. The results of this research are (1) the use of modeling methods during the implementation of poetry reading learning activities can improve teacher skills. This can be seen in the results of observations of teacher skills in cycle I, which obtained a score of 33 with an average of 69, including the good category, and in cycle II, a score of 39 was obtained with an average of 81, including the very good category. (2) The learning outcomes of class IV students at SDN Candimulyo 03, Dolopo District, Madiun Regency in learning to read poetry using the modeling method show a change in student activity to be more active in learning to read poetry in cycle I obtained an average of 2.84 with a percentage of 71% and cycle II obtained an average of 3.14 with a percentage of 79%. The modeling method is a method that can improve students' skills, especially in learning to read poetry. This can be seen in the results of students' poetry reading skills in cycle I, the average score obtained was 67, while in cycle II the average increased to 76 with a KKM of 65.
