Abstract

ABSTRACT Admanezha Putri Yunitasari. 2025. Utilization of the Kresek Monument in Madiun Regency as a Learning Resource in History Education for Class XII at MAN 2 Madiun City. Thesis. History Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI Madiun University. Supervisor (I): Dr. Soebijantoro, M.M., M.Pd. Supervisor (II): Dr. Yudi Hartono, M.Pd. Keywords: utilization, Kresek monument, learning resource, history education. This study aims to 1) Uncover the history of the Kresek Monument in Wungu District, Madiun, 2) Analyze the utilization of the Kresek Monument as a source for learning Indonesian history at MAN 2 Kota Madiun, 3) Identify the challenges faced by teachers at MAN 2 Kota Madiun in teaching materials related to local history. The results of the study indicate that: 1) The Kresek Monument was established to commemorate the humanitarian tragedy of the Madiun incident in 1948 and serves as a symbol of rejection against communist ideology. The location of the monument was chosen in Kresek Village due to its historical and strategic value as a witness to the atrocities committed by the PKI against the local community, 2) The utilization of the Kresek Monument as a historical learning resource at MAN 2 Kota Madiun has been carried out through extracurricular activities that enrich students' learning experiences. This environment-based learning has been able to enhance students' motivation, understanding, and appreciation of local history, 3) History teachers face several challenges in its implementation, such as limited documentation of local history, lack of professional training, administrative burdens, and limited time for learning outside the classroom. These challenges pose obstacles in creating contextual and meaningful history learning.
