Abstract

This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method to describe the use of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) combined with Video Blogs (VLOGs) in teaching speaking skills within narrative texts to eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Parang. The integration of PjBL and VLOG creates a more active, meaningful, and contextual learning experience by involving students in the complete process— from drafting scripts and applying past tense forms correctly to enriching vocabulary, recording, and editing video projects. This approach enhances learners’ speaking abilities and fosters digital literacy and creativity. However, its implementation presents challenges, including cognitive and affective, Both teachers and students respond through reflective and contextual strategies, such as narrative retelling exercises, group discussions, and visual aids like analysis sheets. To build fluency, learners are guided in a supportive environment with flexible recording sessions that allow for repeated practice without performance pressure. The findings highlight how combining PjBL with VLOG-based tasks can promote expressive and confident language use while addressing key barriers in speaking instruction.
