Abstract

The problem of waste management at the Gunungsari Waste Cooperative is the inefficient collection system, which wastes time, energy, and operational costs. Officers often visit residents' homes without any certainty, which makes the collection process less than optimal. To overcome this, an on-demand collection system is needed that can increase efficiency. However, this system requires an accurate distance calculation method to determine an efficient pickup sequence when there are many requests. This study aims to design and build a mobile application-based waste collection system, applying the Vincenty Distance method to calculate the distance between locations, and evaluating the functionality of the resulting system. The application of the Vincenty method is expected to assist officers in determining a more optimal collection route, so that the waste collection process becomes more structured and cost-effective. The system development method used in this study is Rapid Application Development (RAD), which allows for rapid and flexible prototype development. The system design is modeled using Unified Modeling Language (UML). This system is built in the form of a mobile application for two types of users, namely Customers and Officers. System evaluation is carried out using the Black Box testing method to ensure all functionality runs according to requirements. The result of this research is a functional mobile-based waste collection application. The Vincenty method was successfully implemented into the system, and validation testing results demonstrated highly accurate distance calculations compared to manual calculations. Evaluation results using Black Box Testing demonstrated a 95% success rate across 20 test scenarios, indicating that the system performed well and met the specified functional design.
