Abstract
Problem-solving skills refer to the abilities used in mathematics learning to rediscover, understand, and grasp mathematical concepts and materials. Participants are able to use problem-solving skills if they successfully pass through the four stages according to Polya, namely understanding the problem, formulating a problem-solving plan, performing calculations, and reviewing the results obtained. The weakness of students in problem-solving is when solving mathematical story problems that involve the process of understanding, solving, and reviewing the results of their work. This study aims to determine whether the RICOSRE learning model based on Doratoon media is effective in teaching problem-solving skills for KPK and FPB story problems for fifth-grade students. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with an Interrupted Time Series Design research design. The sampling technique used was saturated sampling, with a sample size of 26 students. The research instruments consisted of pre-test and post-test questions on KPK and FPB. Data analysis showed that the students' problem-solving abilities on KPK and FPB questions before and after learning with the RICOSRE learning model based on Doratoon media were not the same. The average post-test score was 80.84, an increase from the average pre-test score of 60.61. The hypothesis test produces a p-value < 0.01, specifically 0.000 < 0.01. Based on the research findings, the RICOSRE learning model based on the Doratoon media is effective in teaching students' problem-solving skills for KPK and FPB story problems in fifth grade.
