Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of CEO experience, CEO education, and gender diversity on financial performance with operational efficiency as a mediating variable. The population of this study consists of 113 consumer non-cyclical sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2021-2025. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, resulting in a total of 504 firm-year observations as samples. Data analysis was carried out using IBM SPSS Statistics version 23 and PROCESS macro version 4.2 developed by Andrew F. Hayes. The results of this study indicate that CEO experience has a significant negative effect on financial performance. CEO education has no effect on financial performance. Gender diversity has a significant positive effect on financial performance. CEO experience has a significant positive effect on operational efficiency. CEO education has no effect on operational efficiency. Gender diversity has a significant positive effect on operational efficiency. Operational efficiency has a significant positive effect on financial performance. Operational efficiency is able to mediate the effect of CEO experience on financial performance. Operational efficiency is not able to mediate the effect of CEO education on financial performance. Operational efficiency is able to mediate the effect of gender diversity on financial performance.
