Keywords: speaking, learning methods, extempore, and photo media This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of the extempore method assisted by photo media can improve the speaking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN Tunggur, Lembeyan District, Magetan Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students of SDN Tunggur, Lembeyan District, Magetan Regency in speaking learning using the extempore method assisted by photo media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the extempore method assisted by photo media can improve the speaking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN Tunggur, Lembeyan District, Magetan Regency. This is in accordance with more effective and efficient classroom management techniques, especially in dealing with students who are not active in participating in the teaching and learning process. An educator must take a special approach and provide motivation, advice and direct teaching. Another important thing that an educator needs to pay attention to in order to improve student understanding is to display media and provide themes and photos of daily activities, so that students can use all the vocabulary they have, and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN Tunggur, Lembeyan District, Magetan Regency in speaking lessons using the extempore method assisted by photo media have increased. In cycle I, the average value of student learning outcomes was 68.83. In cycle II, the average value obtained by students was 77.5. Changes in student learning outcomes can have a positive impact on student learning achievement.
