Improving Descriptive Writing Skills Using the Mind Mapping Learning Model Assisted by Image Media for Fifth Grade Students of Genukwatu 2 Elementary School, Ngoro District, Jombang Regency. Theses. Keywords: writing, description, mind mapping, and image media This study aims to describe (1) the use of mind mapping learning model assisted by image media can improve the descriptive writing skills of fifth grade students of Genukwatu 2 Public Elementary School, Ngoro District, Jombang Regency and (2) the activities of fifth grade students and teachers of Genukwatu 2 Public Elementary School, Ngoro District, Jombang Regency when participating in descriptive writing learning through mind mapping learning model assisted by image media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) Mind Mapping learning model assisted by image media can improve students' ability in writing descriptions. This can be seen from the learning completion of cycle I of 74.3% with an average student score of 69.4 while in cycle II the average student score was 78.8 with a completion of 89.1% or 33 students completed the learning with Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP) >65, and (2) student activity obtained in cycle I with a score of 22.48 and an average of each indicator of 2.81 with a good category, and increased in cycle II with a total of 27.05 and an average of each indicator of 3.38 with a very good category. Teacher activity in implementing Indonesian language learning using the Mind Mapping learning model assisted by images is good and appropriate in accordance with the learning implementation plan. This can be seen from the results of observations which show that the average value obtained by teachers in cycle I is 3.2 with a good category, and in cycle II they get a score of 3.6 with a very good category.
