Abstract

This study is a classroom action research study aimed at (1) determining the increase in social studies interest in grade VIII-G students of SMPN 12 Kota Madiun by implementing the Index Card Match (ICM) learning model, and (2) determining the increase in social studies learning outcomes in grade VIII-G students of SMPN 12 Kota Madiun by implementing the Index Card Match (ICM) learning model. The subjects of this study were 30 students of class VIII-G. The implementation was divided into 2 cycles.Data collection of students' was done through tests. The data were analyzed quantitatively. The learning interests and social studies learning outcomes of class VIII-G students increased after learning was carried out by applying the Index Card Match (ICM) learning model for 2 cycles with the following results: (1) Students' learning interests in the initial/pre-cycle conditions were in the low category with an average score achieved of 39.53 from an ideal score of 100. Students' social studies learning outcomes in the initial/pre-cycle conditions were in the poor category with an average score achieved by students of 69.83. The highest score was 90, the lowest score was 40, the median was 70, and the mode was 70. The number of students who achieved the KKTP was 11 students (36.67%). Classically, students of class VIII-G have not achieved KKTP in social studies learning; (2) Students' interest in learning in cycle I is in the medium category with an average score achieved of 54.4 from an ideal score of 100. Students' social studies learning outcomes in cycle I are in the medium category with an average score achieved by students of 76. The highest score achieved is 95, the lowest score is 55, the median is 75, and the mode is 75 and 85. The number of students who successfully achieved KKTP increased to 19 students (63.33%). Classically, in cycle I, students of class VIII-G have not achieved KKTP in social studies learning; (3) Students' interest in learning in cycle II is in the high category with an average score achieved of 75.47 from an ideal score of 100. Students' learning outcomes in cycle II are in the good category, with an average score of 83.5. The highest score was 100, the lowest score was 65, the median was 85, and the mode was 85. The number of students who achieved the KKTP increased to 24 students (80%). Classically, students achieved the KKTP in social studies learning. Based on the results of the analysis above, it can be concluded that implementing the Index Card Match (ICM) learning model can improve the interest and learning outcomes of social studies in class VIII-G students
