Abstract
This study was motivated by the low narrative writing skills observed among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Genenganjasem 1, Kabuh, Jombang. Students tended to struggle with generating ideas, developing plotlines, and correctly using spelling and punctuation—issues largely attributed to the continued use of conventional teaching methods. Consequently, this study aimed to analyze the impact of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model supported by Canva media, the influence of learning motivation, and the interaction between the two on narrative writing skills. A quantitative approach utilizing a 2x2 factorial experimental design was employed. The sample consisted of 46 fifth-grade students divided into control and experimental groups, further classified by their level of learning motivation (high and low). Data were collected using narrative writing skill tests and learning motivation questionnaires, then analyzed via Two-Way ANOVA using SPSS software. The results indicate that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model supported by Canva media had a significant positive effect on students' narrative writing skills, with the experimental class achieving higher average post-test scores than the control class. Conversely, learning motivation was found to have no significant effect on narrative writing skills. Furthermore, no significant interaction was observed between the learning model and learning motivation regarding narrative writing skills. These findings suggest that the Canva-supported PjBL model is effective for consistent application across students with varying levels of motivation. Based on these results, educators are encouraged to integrate the Project-Based Learning model with Canva media as an innovative instructional alternative to foster narrative writing skills in elementary school students.
