Abstract
Lilis Sudartiningsih. 2026. The Development of a Collection of Narrative Story Books Based on the Local Wisdom of the Slopes of Mount Lawu Assisted by Canva as a Supplementary Learning Resource for Indonesian Language Learning for Fifth-Grade Elementary School Students. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (1) Dr. V. Teguh Suharto, M.Pd.; (2) Dr. Indriyana Dwi Mustikarini, M.H. Keywords: supplementary learning resource, narrative stories, Mount Lawu local wisdom, Canva, constructivism This study was motivated by the gap between the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasized the integration of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) and local cultural literacy, and the actual learning conditions in elementary schools. The identified problems included students' low interest in reading narrative texts, the declining integration of local cultural wisdom into classroom learning, the limited availability of local culture-based learning materials relevant to students' living environments, and teachers' lack of creativity in developing innovative teaching materials. This study aimed to describe and analyze the process of developing an Indonesian language supplementary book and to examine the effectiveness of the developed product in improving fifth-grade students' narrative learning outcomes. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consisted of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research participants were fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Banjarejo, Barat District, Magetan Regency. The study produced a supplementary narrative storybook entitled Mutiara Lereng Lawu. The validation results indicated that the product was highly feasible, with material and language experts awarding a score of 88.0%, media experts 96%, and practitioner experts 90%. The effectiveness test showed an N-Gain score of 0.75, which was categorized as high, with students' post-test scores improving from an initial range of 50–70 to 75–95. Therefore, the Canva-assisted narrative storybook based on the local wisdom of the slopes of Mount Lawu, entitled Mutiara Lereng Lawu, was found to be effective in improving fifth-grade students' narrative learning outcomes while simultaneously supporting the preservation of local cultural wisdom in the digital era.
