Abstract
This study aims to analyze the academic engagement of KIP-K scholarship recipient students in the Economic Education Study Program of UNIPMA viewed from the behavioral, emotional, and cognitive dimensions, as well as to identify the driving factors, inhibitors, and challenges. This study used a qualitative approach with Creswell's Phenomenology design. Informants were selected by purposive sampling consisting of 13 active KIP-K scholarship students from the 2022–2024 cohorts, 3 lecturers, and 1 representative from the Student Affairs Bureau (BKM). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and validated using source, technique, and time triangulation. The results showed that students interpret the KIP-K scholarship as a major moral responsibility to study seriously. Behavioral engagement is demonstrated through optimal attendance discipline (80%–100%), active class participation, and independent organizational activeness. Emotional engagement is reflected in a deep sense of gratitude and the ability to manage grade anxiety into learning motivation. Cognitive engagement is implemented through self-regulated learning strategies and extra effort investment for cum laude graduation targets. The main driving factor is the desire to make parents happy and change the family's economic destiny, while obstacles such as physical fatigue and limited personal facilities are successfully mitigated through campus laboratory and Wi-Fi support under the structured supervision of academic advisors and BKM. The essence of the lived experience of KIP-K Economic Education students at UNIPMA is a "Learning Struggle Based on Moral Responsibility" which creates high academic resilience.
