Abstract
This study aims to describe the training process, understand the subjective experiences, and analyze the career maturity development of children with intellectual disabilities through ciprat batik-making activities at SLB PSM Takeran. Cognitive limitations often cause children with disabilities to experience stagnation in their career development. Therefore, adaptive vocational training such as ciprat batik becomes a crucial intervention medium. This research employed a qualitative method with a phenomenological study approach. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving alumni of SLB PSM Takeran and supervising teachers at the Peduli Sambung Roso Sheltered Workshop. The data analysis technique used the interactive model by Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results showed that the training process requires a long period (up to one year) through basic habituation programs and intensive mentoring. Subjectively, ciprat batik activities are interpreted positively by children with disabilities; they feel pride, increased self-confidence when their work is appreciated, and find intrinsic motivation through economic independence (income to save and meet daily needs). Their career maturity is formed gradually, marked by the growth of self-awareness, the ability to explore work tools, and making simple work decisions. Environmental support free from stigma and financial management (joint savings) by mentors are important factors supporting their future career readiness
