Abstract
This study was motivated by the low scientific literacy skills of elementary school students in the Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject. The study aimed to determine the difference in scientific literacy skills between students taught using the "Picture and Picture" model and those taught using the "Numbered Heads Together" model. This quantitative study employed a quasi- experimental design, specifically a posttest-only group design. The subjects consisted of 36 fourth-grade students selected via purposive sampling, divided into Experimental Class I (16 students at SDN Sidomulyo 01 using the "Picture and Picture" model) and Experimental Class II (20 students at SDN Buduran 02 using the "Numbered Heads Together" model). Data on scientific literacy skills were collected through a multiple-choice written test covering the topic of landforms and subsequently analyzed using an Independent Sample t-Test. The analysis results showed that t-table (2.0322) was less than t-calculated (2.60); thus, the null hypothesis was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The mean scientific literacy score of students in Experimental Class I (83.12) was found to be higher than that of Experimental Class II (70.50). The study concludes that there is a significant difference in scientific literacy skills between the two treatment groups, with the "Picture and Picture" model proving more effective than the "Numbered Heads Together" model in enhancing students' scientific literacy skills.
