Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of students, which is one of the essential competencies in 21st-century learning. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Think Talk Write learning model assisted by geoboard media on the mathematical communication skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in plane geometry material. This study employed a quantitative approach using a true experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a population of 100 fourth-grade elementary school students in the Balerejo District cluster. The research sample consisted of 19 students from SDN Garon 01 as the experimental class and 18 students from SDN Garon 02 as the control class. Data were collected through mathematical communication skill tests and observation sheets, then analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample t-test hypothesis testing. The results showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The mean post-test score of the experimental class was 86.83, higher than the control class at 68.28. Furthermore, the observation results showed that the experimental class score of 35.8 was higher than the control class score of 26.6. Therefore, the Think Talk Write learning model assisted by geoboard media is effective in improving the mathematical communication skills of fourth-grade elementary school students in plane geometry material.
