Abstract

Improvements in educational technology need new and better ways to create learning materials that are both interactive and relevant to the context. Another option is using Augmented Reality (AR) as a tool for learning, especially when teaching about biodiversity. This concept can be hard for young students to understand because it's not something they can see or touch directly. This study wants to create learning materials using augmented reality that is based on local wisdom to teach biodiversity to fifth-grade students, and it also wants to check how easy and useful these materials are to use. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the ADDIE model, which includes the steps of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data was gathered by checking it with media and experts in the subject area, and also through questionnaires that asked teachers and students for their feedback. The results indicate that the created media is very reliable, as it received 100% validation from media experts and 84% from experts in the subject area. Also, the response rates of 90% from teachers and 91.16% from students show that the media is very useful and liked a lot by people involved in learning. The augmented reality learning tool based on local knowledge helps students better grasp, enjoy, and understand biodiversity concepts. So, the AR learning media that was created is seen as workable and very useful as a new teaching tool to help students learn about biodiversity in primary schools.
