Abstract
The problem identified at SDN Ngadirejo 02 is students’ low reading skills, particularly in understanding the content of informational texts. This is caused by the use of learning media that remains monotonous, limited to textbooks and worksheets, and does not yet make optimal use of technology-based media; as a result, students feel bored, lack focus, and have difficulty grasping information from the reading material. The objectives of this study are to develop Google Sites-based picture card media using the Discovery Learning model, to assess the feasibility of the media, and to determine the responses of teachers and students to its use. This is a Research and Development (R&D) study using the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments used included validation sheets from subject matter and language experts, validation sheets from media experts, and response questionnaires for teachers and students. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the resulting media consists of Google Sites-based picture cards featuring informational text for Phase B students (Grade 3). The feasibility of the media was demonstrated by the results of the subject matter and language expert validation at 93.3% (highly valid), media expert validation at 91.6% (highly valid), as well as teacher feedback at 95% and student feedback at 93.7%, both of which fall into the “very good” category. Student learning outcomes also showed an improvement, with an average of 91%. In conclusion, the Google Sites-based picture card teaching material using the Discovery Learning model is deemed highly feasible and practical for improving the reading skills of Phase B elementary school students.
