Keywords: writing, children's rhymes, and contextual teaching and learning This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of learning to write children's rhymes through the contextual teaching and learning approach to sixth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Suru, Sooko District, Ponorogo Regency and (2) student learning outcomes in learning to write children's rhymes through the contextual teaching and learning approach to sixth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Suru, Sooko District, Ponorogo Regency. This study is a classroom action research using two cycles. The results of this study are (1) the application of the contextual teaching and learning approach was carried out well, this is known from the observation scores of activities carried out by teachers and students from cycle I to cycle II which increased. For teacher activity in cycle I, the final score obtained was 75 (moderate) and increased in cycle II to 90 (high) and student activity in cycle I, the final score obtained was 70 (moderate) and increased in cycle II to 87.5 (high), and (2) learning outcomes in learning to write children's rhymes through the contextual teaching and learning approach in grade VI students of SD Negeri 1 Suru, Sooko District, Ponorogo Regency have increased. This is evidenced by the percentage of student completion scores in cycle I, which was 50% (low) and experienced a significant increase to 79.17% (very high) in cycle II. The average class score in cycle I was 71.67 (moderate) and increased to 76.25 (high) in cycle II.
