Abstract

The development of information technology and the internet has provided easy access to cinematographic works, but on the other hand, it has also triggered a surge in copyright infringement through illegal film streaming sites. This study aims to analyze the enforcement of film copyright law on illegal film streaming sites through the internet in Indonesia and examine the legal steps that creators can take to prevent and address such copyright infringement based on a normative juridical review. The research method used is normative legal research with a statutory and conceptual approach, utilizing primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The research results indicate that, normatively, copyright regulations for films have been comprehensively regulated in Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright. However, its enforcement still faces various obstacles, such as the development of digital technology, low public legal awareness, and limited coordination between agencies. Furthermore, this study found that creators can pursue preventive and repressive legal remedies, through civil, criminal, and administrative mechanisms, with the support of the government and relevant institutions. Therefore, synergy between regulation, law enforcement, and increased public legal awareness is needed to strengthen film copyright protection in the digital era.
