ABSTRACT Rima Eka Murtiana. 2025. Improving Poetry Reading Ability Through the Reading Aloud Method with Audio Poetry Assistance for Fourth Grade Students of SD Negeri 2 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School of PGRI Madiun University. Supervisors: (I) Dr. Dwi Setyadi, M.M.; (II) Dr. Agung Nasrulloh Saputro. M.Pd. Keywords: Poetry Reading Ability, Reading AloudMethod, Audio Poetry This study aims to improve the poetry reading ability of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Selur through the reading aloud method with audio poetry assistance. The problem examined is the low ability of students in reading poetry with proper pronunciation, intonation, expression, and appreciation. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Selur. Data collection techniques included observation, poetry reading performance tests, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The research results showed improvement in poetry reading ability in the following aspects: (1) pronunciation and articulation, (2) intonation, (3) expression, and (4) appreciation. The results of implementing the reading aloud method with audio poetry assistance showed that it can: (1) improve students' poetry reading learning achievement, marked by an increase in average scores and learning completeness from pre-cycle to cycle II, (2) increase students' learning activeness in participating in poetry reading lessons, and (3) increase students' self-confidence in reading poetry in front of the class. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the reading aloud method with audio poetry assistance is effective in improving the poetry reading ability of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 2 Selur.
