Abstract

Improving Reading Comprehension Skills through Differentiated Learning Strategy Assisted by Game Media for Grade 1 Students of SD Negeri 2 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. Thesis. Master's Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Graduate School of PGRI Madiun University. Supervisor (I) Dr. Dwi Setyadi, M.M.; (II) Dr. Agung Nasrulloh Saputro, M.Pd. Keywords: reading comprehension, differentiated learning, game media Reading comprehension is a fundamental skill that students must master from the elementary school level. This research aims to: (1) describe the improvement of students' reading achievement, (2) describe the improvement of students' learning activeness, and (3) describe the improvement of students' collaboration skills through differentiated learning strategy assisted by game media for Grade 1 students of SD Negeri 2 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were Grade 1 students of SD Negeri 2 Selur. Data collection techniques used observation, tests, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods. The research findings showed that: (1) students' reading achievement improved from pre-cycle, cycle I, to cycle II, indicated by the increase in average scores and classical learning completeness; (2) students' learning activeness improved, demonstrated through students' enthusiasm and active participation in learning activities; and (3) students' collaboration skills improved, evident from students' ability to collaborate with peers during the learning process. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of differentiated learning strategy assisted by game media is effective in improving reading comprehension skills, learning activeness, and collaboration skills of Grade 1 students of SD Negeri 2 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency.
