Keywords: reading, beginnings, practice methods, and visual media This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of visual media-assisted training methods can improve reading comprehension of second-grade students of SDN Mayangrejo, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency, and (2) the learning outcomes of second-grade students of SDN Mayangrejo, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency in learning to read using visual media-assisted training methods. This study is a classroom action research using two cycles. The results of this study are: (1) the application of visual media-assisted training methods can improve the beginning reading of second-grade students of SDN Mayangrejo, Kalitidu District, Bojonegoro Regency, there has been an increase. This is evidenced by the value of teacher activity of 69.11% in the good category, increasing in cycle II to 91.17% in the very good category. The value of student activity in cycle I was 77.94% in the good category, increasing in cycle II to 95.58% in the very good category, and (2) The learning outcomes of grade II students of SDN Mayangrejo using the drill method assisted by picture media can improve students' initial reading skills or student learning completeness. This can be seen from the results of the analysis of 3 students who have not achieved completeness individually, while the number of students who have completed is 20 people with a percentage of 86.95% both individually and classically. Based on this analysis, students have achieved the KKM that has been set.
