Department of Electrical Engineering Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, PGRI University of Madiun. Advisors: (I) Ihtiari Prastyaningrum, S.Si., M.Si., (II) Pramudya Ardi, M.Pd. Teaching methods that are more teacher-centered tend to be insufficient for developing students’ critical thinking skills, particularly in the course on Electrical Power System Protection: Relay Theory. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model, supported by the Kahoot learning platform, in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. Research instruments included multiple- choice tests, expert validation sheets, case studies, and student response questionnaires to determine improvements in learning outcomes and students’ critical thinking skills following the intervention. This study employed a mixed- methods approach with a Sequential Explanatory design. The percentage results obtained from the pre-test were 50.16%. After implementing the STAD cooperative learning model, students worked on case studies to assess their critical thinking skills, with the results showing that 4 students fell into the “Very Critical” category, and 6 students in the “Critical” category. It can be concluded that the STAD cooperative learning model, supported by Kahoot, can help students improve their critical thinking skills. The results of the student response questionnaire showed a percentage of 88.16%, with an average response of “strongly agree,” conducted among fourth-semester students in the Electrical Engineering Education Program at PGRI University Madiun. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the STAD cooperative learning model can improve students’ critical thinking skills, with effectiveness ranging from moderate to high. Positive feedback was also received from the students. Thus, the STAD learning model combined with Kahoot can serve as an innovative and effective learning alternative for the course on Electrical Power System Protection: Relay Theory.
