Abstract
This study was motivated by the low level of poetry writing skills among elementary school students. It aimed to describe the implementation of the Think Talk Write model assisted by visual media and to examine the improvement in fourth-grade students’ poetry writing learning outcomes. The study employed a qualitative approach using classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the study were fourth-grade students of SDN Suwaloh. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, and were analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the Think Talk Write model assisted by visual media improved students’ activeness and poetry writing skills. Improvement was also observed in learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in the average score from 66 in Cycle I to 95 in Cycle II. Therefore, the Think Talk Write model assisted by visual media was effective in improving elementary students’ poetry writing skills.
