Thesis. Madiun: Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Postgraduate Faculty, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors: (I) Prof. Dr. Bambang Eko Hari Cahyono, M.Pd., (II) Dr. Muhammad Binur Huda, M.Pd. Keywords: Reading, Comprehension, Group Discussion This study aims to improve students’ reading comprehension skills through the application of the group discussion method in Indonesian language learning at SD Negeri 4 Sudimoroharjo. The problem addressed is the students’ low ability to understand reading texts, which is influenced by limited interaction and active participation during the learning process. The research method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation conducted during the learning process using the group discussion method. The research subjects were 25 fourth-grade students. The results show that the application of the group discussion method can enhance students’ reading comprehension abilities. Students became more active in discussing, sharing understanding, and interpreting the content of texts more deeply. This study concludes that the use of the group discussion method is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension skills at SD Negeri 4 Sudimoroharjo, Wilangan Subdistrict.
