Abstract

The background of this study lies in the low level of students’ motivation and learning outcomes in the Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject at SD Negeri Banjarejo, Taman District, Madiun City, where only 33.33% of students achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM). This condition highlights the need for instructional innovation through the integration of digital technology, specifically by utilizing Canva-based learning media to enhance students’ motivation and academic achievement. This study aims to enhance students’ motivation and learning outcomes in the Integrated Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject through the use of Canva-assisted instructional media among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Banjarejo, Taman District, Madiun City. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 24 fifth-grade students, and the instruments used included observation sheets for learning activities, motivation questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The findings revealed a significant improvement in both students’ learning motivation and academic performance following the implementation of Canva-based learning. At the pre-cycle stage, only 25% of students demonstrated high learning motivation; this figure increased to 66.66% in Cycle I and 83.33% in Cycle II. The average motivation score rose from 6.54 to 22. Similarly, the average learning score improved from 65.41 in the pre-cycle to 80.00 in Cycle I and 90.20 in Cycle II. The percentage of students achieving mastery learning increased from 25.00% in the pre-cycle to 63.33% in Cycle I and 83.33% in Cycle II. These results indicate that the use of Canva as a learning medium is highly effective in enhancing students’ motivation and learning outcomes in IPAS. The platform fosters an engaging, interactive, and context-rich learning environment that encourages greater student participation and enthusiasm in classroom activities.
