Abstract
This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of extemporaneous methods can improve the speaking skills of fifth grade students of SDN 3 Campur, Gondang District, Nganjuk Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 3 Campur, Gondang District, Nganjuk Regency in speaking learning using extemporaneous methods. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) extemporaneous methods can improve the speaking skills of fifth grade students of SDN 3 Campur, Gondang District, Nganjuk Regency. This is in accordance with more effective and efficient classroom management techniques, especially in dealing with students who are not active in following the teaching and learning process. An educator must take a special approach and provide motivation, advice and direct teaching. No less important things that need to be considered by an educator to be able to improve student understanding, namely must display media and provide themes and pictures of daily activities, so that students can use all the vocabulary they have in themselves, and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SDN 3 Campur, Gondang District, Nganjuk Regency in speaking learning using extemporaneous methods have increased. In cycle I, the average value of student learning outcomes was 68.83. In cycle II, the average value obtained by students was 77.5. Changes in student learning outcomes can have a positive impact on student learning achievement.
