Abstract
Indonesian language learning in elementary schools emphasizes language skills. As we all know, language skills are divided into four aspects: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Although each has its own characteristics and uniqueness, these four aspects of language skills are integrally related and cannot be separated. Writing, one aspect of language learning, seems to be a challenge for most elementary school students. However, writing skills should be developed early. Writing theories and techniques should be introduced and implemented in the lower grades. To anticipate the difficulties students experience in developing writing skills, I will conduct classroom action research as a follow-up to improve learning. Based on the data collection and theoretical analysis of the research, it appears that the use of media or teaching aids in learning is the most influential element in helping optimize students' thinking. This is evident from the research results, which show that students' ability to express their ideas in simple compositions significantly improved after learning improvement activities using instructional media, specifically images.
