Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of educational podcasts and to examine the improvement of listening skills of sixth-grade students at SDN Keraskulon 2, Gerih District, Ngawi Regency through the use of educational podcast media. The background of this research is the low level of students’ listening skills in Indonesian language learning, characterized by a lack of concentration, limited comprehension of spoken materials, and low student interest in conventional listening activities. Therefore, an innovative learning medium is needed to enhance students’ engagement and focus, one of which is educational podcasts. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were sixth-grade students of SDN Keraskulon 2. Data were collected through classroom observations, listening skill tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods supported by quantitative data to identify improvements in students’ listening skills. The results indicate that the implementation of educational podcasts improves students’ listening skills. This improvement is reflected in increased student attention and participation during learning activities, better comprehension of spoken information, and greater accuracy in answering questions based on the listened materials. Therefore, educational podcasts are effective as a learning medium for listening instruction in sixth-grade elementary school students and can serve as an innovative and contextual alternative in Indonesian language learning.
