Keywords: speaking, methods, extemporaneous, and poster media This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of extemporaneous methods assisted by poster media can improve the speaking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Plunturan, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Plunturan, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency in speaking learning using extemporaneous methods assisted by poster media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are: (1) extemporaneous methods assisted by poster media can improve the speaking skills of fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Plunturan, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency. This is in accordance with more effective and efficient classroom management techniques, especially in dealing with students who are not active in participating in the teaching and learning process. An educator must take a special approach and provide motivation, advice and direct teaching. No less important things that need to be considered by an educator to be able to improve student understanding, namely having to display media and provide themes and images of daily activities, so that students can use all the vocabulary they have in themselves, and (2) the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Plunturan, Pulung District, Ponorogo Regency, in speaking lessons using the extemporaneous method assisted by posters have improved. In cycle I, the average score for student learning outcomes was 68.83. In cycle II, the average score for students was 77.5. These changes in student learning outcomes can have a positive impact on student achievement.
