Abstract

Edutainment-Based Learning to Improve Student Activity and Learning Outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) for Fifth-Grade Students at SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul, Madiun City. Thesis. Madiun: Magister Study Program of Social Science Education, Graduate Program Pascasarjana, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Advisors: (1) Drs. Nurhadji Nugraha, M.M., Co Advisor (2) Dr. Yudi Hartono, M.Pd. Keywords: Edutainment, Learning Activity, Learning Outcomes, IPAS. This research was driven by the low levels of student activity and learning outcomes in the Science and Social Studies (IPAS) subject among fifth-grade students at SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul, which stemmed from the use of conventional learning methods. The objective of this study was to enhance both student activity and learning outcomes through the implementation of edutainment-based learning. The research followed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, utilizing the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted over two cycles. The subjects were 15 fifth-grade students at SDN 01 Nambangan Kidul. Data collection techniques included observation to measure student activity and tests to evaluate learning outcomes. Data analysis was conducted using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results demonstrated that the application of edutainment-based learning significantly improved student activity and learning outcomes. Student activity increased from the "fair" category (20%) in the pre-cycle to the "good" category (66.67%) in Cycle I, ultimately reaching the "very good" category in Cycle II. Correspondingly, student learning outcomes improved from an average score of 62.5 with a 46.7% mastery rate in the pre-cycle to an average of 73.6 with a 66.7% mastery rate in Cycle I. In Cycle II, learning outcomes peaked with an average score of 87.60 and a mastery rate of 86.7%. This study concludes that edutainment-based learning is effective in creating an enjoyable learning atmosphere, thereby fostering student activity and academic achievement in IPAS.
