Madiun: Master of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Postgraduate Faculty, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors (I) Dr. Dwi Setiyadi, M.M., (II) Dr. Heny Kusuma Widyaningrum, S.Pd., M.Pd. Keywords: ability to find main ideas, pictorial texts, Indonesian language learning, learning outcomes. Classroom Action Research. This study aims to describe and analyze the Improvement of the Ability to Find Main Ideas Through the Effective Use of Pictorial Texts for Fifth Graders of SD Negeri 3 Rejoso, Rejoso District, Nganjuk Regency, Academic Year 2025/2026. The background of this research is the low level of student achievement in identifying main ideas in reading, which is caused by a lack of interest in reading and limited and uninteresting learning media. This is evident in students' lack of engagement in learning to identify main ideas in reading, minimal comprehension of reading material, and limited motivation to identify main ideas in reading material. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), implemented in two cycles, each cycle encompassing planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, field notes, and assessments of student reading activities and interests. The results showed that the use of illustrated texts can improve students' ability to identify main ideas in reading material. This is evident in student learning outcomes, increased student engagement in reading activities, enthusiasm in discussing main ideas in reading material, ability to express opinions, and improved reading interest assessment scores for each cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of illustrated text is effective in improving the ability to find the main ideas of fifth grade students of SD Negeri 3 Rejoso, therefore illustrated text can be used as an alternative innovative learning media to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.
