Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing QR Code-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) in improving the critical thinking ability and social skills of fifth grade students in the IPAS subject at SDN 01 Kartoharjo. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted in two cycles (planning, implementation, observation, and reflection). The subjects were 28 students of class VB. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, and documentation; the data are analyzed using a qualitative-descriptive approach. The results revealed a significant improvement: students’ critical thinking ability (based on observation) increased from 43% in the pre-cycle to 75% in Cycle I and 86% in Cycle II. Social skills increased from 39% in the pre-cycle to 86% in Cycle I and 93% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that QR Code-based Project Based Learning (PjBL) is effective in encouraging students to learn actively, think critically, and collaborate meaningfully. The practical implication suggests that teachers are encouraged to apply QR Code-based PjBL in a well-planned manner and to facilitate students’ technical skills during learning activities.
