Abstract
This study aimed to improve teachers’ learning motivation and discipline through the implementation of the PAIKEM MANJA Program at SD Negeri 2 Kupuk, Bungkal, Ponorogo. The background of this study was based on the low level of teachers’ motivation and discipline, as indicated by the initial condition in which only 33% of teachers demonstrated high levels of motivation and discipline. This study employed a School Action Research approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were nine teachers of SD Negeri 2 Kupuk, Bungkal, Ponorogo. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the PAIKEM MANJA Program significantly improved teachers’ learning motivation and discipline. Teachers’ learning motivation increased from 33% in the pre-cycle stage to 63% at the end of Cycle I and further increased to 92% at the end of Cycle II. Similarly, teachers’ discipline improved from 33% in the pre-cycle stage to 65% at the end of Cycle I and reached 96% at the end of Cycle II. These results indicate that the success indicator of the study, namely ≥ 80%, was achieved. In conclusion, the PAIKEM MANJA Program is effective in enhancing teachers’ learning motivation and discipline, and therefore can be used as an alternative strategy for teacher development and performance improvement in elementary schools.
