Improving Reading Comprehension Skills through the PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) Learning Method and Multimodal Texts for Sixth-Grade Students of SDN 3 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency, 2024/2025 Academic Year. Thesis. Master of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Graduate Faculty, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisor: Dr. V. Teguh Suharto, M.Pd. and Supervisor: Dr. Lulus Irawati, S.S., M.Pd. Keywords: Reading Comprehension, PQ4R Learning Method, Multimodal Text The objectives of this study are, first, to describe and explain the improvement of reading comprehension skills through the PQ4R learning method and multimodal texts. Second, to describe and explain the advantages and disadvantages of applying the PQ4R learning method and multimodal texts to improve reading comprehension skills. This study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach. The study was conducted in sixth-grade students at SDN 3 Selur, Ngrayun District, Ponorogo Regency, with 14 students as subjects. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. Data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/data verification. The results showed that reading comprehension learning using the PQ4R method and multimodal texts for sixth-grade students was successful. This was evidenced by the increase in student scores in each cycle of action. The advantages of implementing the PQ4R and multimodal text learning methods include: 1) making students more active while reading, 2) having a clear structure, 3) helping to improve retention, 4) being suitable for lesson texts or non-fiction reading, 5) increasing interest and motivation, 6) being suitable for various student learning styles, 7) improving digital literacy skills, 8) enriching the learning experience, and 9) helping to explain complex concepts. Apart from the advantages, there are also disadvantages, including: 1) it takes more time, 2) it requires getting used to and practicing, 3) it causes potential distractions, 4) it requires access to technology.
