Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain (1) the application of cooperative methods with puzzle media can improve writing descriptive paragraphs in grade III students of SD Negeri 2 Plalangan, Jenangan District, Ponorogo Regency Academic Years 2024/2025, and (2) the activities of grade III students of SD Negeri 2 Plalangan, Jenangan District, Ponorogo Regency Academic Years 2024/2025 in learning to write descriptions using cooperative methods with puzzle media. This study is a classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this study are (1) the results of the pre-cycle test showed an average class score of 57.52 and were included in the less category. The results of the test in cycle I showed an average class score of 63.92 and were included in the sufficient category. The results of the test in cycle II obtained an average score of 74.64 and were included in the good category. The results show that learning to write descriptive paragraphs with puzzle media through cooperative learning can be said to be successful, and (2) the activities of class III students of SD Negeri 2 Plalangan, Jenangan District, Ponorogo Regency Academic Years 2024/2025 in learning to write descriptions using cooperative methods with puzzle media after participating in learning to write descriptive paragraphs with puzzle media through cooperative learning have changed. The changes in activity can be proven from the behavior of students who have changed from negative behavior, including being noisy in class, talking to friends, eating in class, to positive behavior. This can be seen in cycle II, namely students look more ready and enthusiastic to follow the learning, are more active in asking and answering questions, and students are increasingly happy with the activity of writing descriptive paragraphs using puzzle media in learning.
