Keywords: writing narratives, mind mapping, and image media This research aims to describe (1) the use of a mind mapping learning model assisted by image media to improve the narrative essay writing skills of class IV students at SD Negeri 3 Ngebel, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency and (2) the activities of class IV students and teachers at SD Negeri 3 Ngebel, Ngebel District, Ponorogo Regency, take part in learning to write narrative essays through the mind mapping learning model assisted by image media. This research is classroom action research with two research cycles. The results of this research are (1) The Mind Mapping learning model assisted by image media can improve students' ability to write narrative essays. This can be seen from the learning completeness of cycle I of 74.3% with an average student score of 69.4, while in cycle II the average student score was 78.8 with completeness of 89.1% or 33 students completed learning with the Completeness Criteria. Minimum (KKM) >65, and (2) student activity obtained in cycle I with a score of 22.48 and an average of 2.81 for each indicator in the good category, and increased in cycle II with a total of 27.05 and an average each indicator is 3.38 in the very good category. The teacher's activities in carrying out Indonesian language learning using the picture assisted Mind Mapping learning model are good and appropriate to the learning implementation plan. This can be seen from the results of observations which show that the average score obtained by teachers in cycle I was 3.2 in the good category, and in cycle II they got a score of 3.6 in the very good category.
