Abstract
ABSTRACT Khariska Ramadhani, 2025. THE ROLE OF TEACHERS IN FORMING DISCIPLINED BEHAVIOR IN CHILDREN AGED 5-6 YEARS IN PEMBINA KINDERGARTEN PGRI KAUMAN PONOROGO. Thesis, Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program, FKIP, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Supervisors (I) Dian Ratnaningtyas Afifah, M.Psi., Psychologist. (II) Hermawati Dwi Susari, S. Psi., M. Pd. This study aims to explore the role of teachers in shaping discipline behavior among children aged 5–6 years at TK Pembina PGRI Kauman Ponorogo. The formation of discipline from an early age serves as an essential foundation for character development and children’s social readiness to face the next level of education. Teachers hold a strategic role not only as educators but also as mentors, leaders, and role models in fostering discipline in terms of time, rules, and attitudes. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods consisting of in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of two participants: one principal and one class teacher of group B2. The data were analyzed using techniques of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers play an active role in instilling discipline through habituation, role modeling, guidance, and the use of educational rewards and punishments. Teachers consistently strive to create a conducive environment that supports children in learning to value time, obey rules, and display polite behavior. The formation of discipline is reflected in children’s growing habits of being orderly in learning activities, following classroom rules, and demonstrating socially acceptable behavior. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the importance of teachers’ roles in strengthening discipline character among young children and provides practical input for early childhood education institutions (PAUD) to develop learning strategies that support character formation from an early age. Keywords: teacher’s role, early childhood discipline, time discipline, rules, attitudes, early childhood education.
