Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of seventh grade students. This low ability indicates the need to develop teaching materials that help students hone their critical thinking skills. This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the development of E-LKPD with a contextual approach on the One Variable Linear Equation (PLSV) material. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Madiun, using the Research and Development (R&D) research method with the 4D development model, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The subjects in this study were 32 students of grade VII A. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The instruments used were validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and learning outcome test questions. Data collection techniques used included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests to measure the effectiveness of E-LKPD. The results of the study showed that: The developed E-LKPD met the very valid criteria with a percentage of 89.81%, the E-LKPD met the very practical criteria with a percentage of 88.21%, the E-LKPD met the effective criteria based on the achievement of student scores that met the completion criteria, with a percentage of 78.30% of the total overall score, and was able to improve students' critical thinking skills, which was shown by an increase in the average percentage of interpretation indicators of 87.00%, analysis of 86.84%, evaluation of 87.16%, and reference of 87.16%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the E-LKPD with a contextual approach to PLSV material at SMPN 2 Madiun met the valid, practical, and effective criteria and could improve critical thinking so that it was suitable for use in the learning process.
