Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of eye and hand coordination (fine motor skills) of children aged 4–5 years through the application of the collage method using loose parts at TK Dharma Wanita Pangkur. The background of this research is the still low ability of children’s eye and hand coordination, which is evident from difficulties in holding, picking up, applying glue, and attaching materials according to the pattern accurately. The research uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method carried out in two cycles, with each cycle including the stages of planning, implementing the action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 10 children in the 4–5 year old age group at TK Dharma Wanita Pangkur. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and documentation using observation sheets prepared based on indicators of eye and hand coordination ability. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods by calculating the percentage of achievement of children’s development indicators in each cycle. The results show that in the pre-cycle stage most of the children were still in the categories Not Yet Developed (BB) and Starting to Develop (MB). After the application of the loose parts collage method in Cycle I, there was an improvement in children’s abilities as indicated by the increase in the number of children in the categories Developing as Expected (BSH) and Developing Very Well (BSB). The learning improvements carried out in Cycle II further optimized children’s abilities in picking up, holding, applying glue, and attaching materials according to the pattern accurately, neatly, and independently.
