Abstract
The low initial number recognition ability at KB Melati Pangkur due to from teachers who still use mediocre learning media and lecture methods that will affect early counting abilities in children, resulting in boredom during lessons, children not fully understanding the lessons, and very low student interest in learning. Therefore, the solution offered to improve early counting abilities in children is by developing a counting tree learning media. To achieve this goal, the study uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method, which focuses on improving the learning process through actions carried out gradually and continuously. The subjects in this study consist of 18 children, including 8 boys- and 10 girls. Data collection was conducted through observation techniques and documentation used as supporting data to complete the results of the study. Data analysis was conducted descriptively qualitative by comparing pre-action, cycle I, and cycle II. Based on the results of the study conducted at KB Melati Pangkur, it can be concluded that overall learning activity observations, through the use of the counting tree game, can improve number recognition abilities in children of the Melati Playgroup. This is evident from the increase in children's activity in the classroom learning process and the improvement in number recognition abilities.
