Abstract
This abstract discusses a study on the critical thinking abilities of fifth-grade students at SDN Kawu 3 in solving mathematics problems, specifically related to fractions. The study aims to measure the level of critical thinking in these students and to understand how they approach problem-solving. The key indicators used to assess critical thinking include identifying problems, presenting facts, making logical arguments, providing explanations, and drawing conclusions. The research follows a descriptive qualitative approach, involving 11 students as participants. Data collection was carried out through tests and interviews, with a set of 5 essay-type questions used to assess their thinking skills. The findings reveal varying levels of critical thinking among the students. The results indicate that 45.45% of the students demonstrated high critical thinking (TBK 3), 23.64% showed medium critical thinking (TBK 2), 20% showed low critical thinking (TBK 1), and 10.91% exhibited no critical thinking (TBK 0). In conclusion, the study highlights that students at SDN Kawu 3 have different abilities in terms of critical thinking when working on mathematics problems, particularly in the topic of fractions.
