Abstract
Group guidance services that apply self-talk techniques focus on the role played by human thoughts and actions. By using self-talk techniques, teenagers can express their feelings, change their perceptions, evaluate them, and provide incentives and reinforcement to themselves. Reinforcement means teens can challenge irrational beliefs and develop more positive thoughts. The aim of the research is to determine whether the use of self-talk techniques in group guidance is effective in increasing students' self-esteem. Self-esteem is the result of a person's evaluation of himself and the treatment of the people around him. This shows how much a person's self-confidence and arrogance can be useful and successful for others. Researchers use a quantitative approach with a one group pre-test post-test design experimental method that will be used in this research. The population in this study was class VIII students and a sample of 8 students. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. For data analysis used for hypothesis testing using the Wilcoxon signed test. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, it can be concluded that group guidance services using the self-talk technique are effective in increasing the self-esteem of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Geger, Madiun Regency.
